Tice Valley Park

Walnut Creek, California

The park master plan and construction implementation plans began with a study to explore park development feasibility and options for two parcels in Tice Valley. The first parcel is seven acres and partially developed; the other is sixteen acres and permanent open space. Proposed amenities include nature trail, passive use areas, soccer and football fields, children’s play area, interactive water feature, botanical garden, amphitheater, and picnic area. Improvement plans for an active park were completed for the first parcel. Phase one provided a soccer field, access, and parking areas; phase two the children’s play area, restrooms, picnic area and walking paths.

Merrill Morris Partners provided public outreach and park master planning/design. Outreach scope included community site tours/survey, numerous workshops, and City Planning Commission meetings. MMP facilitated a community design process for the preferred park program. MMP services included environmental restoration and heritage tree preservation, and construction documentation through construction period services for all phases of the recreation facility.
