Tenth & Mission Family & Edith Witt Senior Communities
San Francisco, California
The Tenth & Mission Family Housing & Edith Witt Senior Community projects are located in the Mid-Market neighborhood of San Francisco. These high-density urban infill projects consist of two apartment buildings, a 12-story family housing tower and an 11-story senior housing tower. Between the two towers and over the parking garage, a 6,250 square foot open terrace is devoted to resident activities offering healthy living for both families and seniors.
A bosque of trees in large, raised planters combine with vine arbors on the terrace to create intimate gathering spaces over the parking garage. The planters help screen these spaces and the senior’s terrace from the children’s play area. At grade, there is 6,000 square feet of open space providing a recreation area for the Youth Center, and a separate fountain courtyard with planters filled with lush bamboo, for quiet reading and enjoyment of the garden. The ground floor along Mission and 10th Street offers commercial space activating the street with retail, a diner, Youth Center and space for cultural activities and services.
