Solano Community College District Biotech Building

Vacaville, California

The new Biotechnology & Science Building (BTSB) on Solano Community College District’s 60-acre satellite campus, the Vacaville Center, is funded by Measure G and Q bonds. The state-of-the-art development is an interdisciplinary science academic facility taking advantage of its location within one of the largest bio-manufacturing hubs in the United States.

Major Site components: The existing East Quad’s Amphitheater will be retained, with the addition of a new fire truck access from south of the existing Vacaville Center, new east fire access road and pedestrian pathway east of the existing amphitheater, and other instructive landscapes, usable patios and outdoor classroom spaces, immediately adjacent to the south and east of the BTSB. A new NW public plaza will be created between the existing Vacaville Center and the new BTSB. This entry element feature will also create a destination, a recognizable new hub to foster professional and social interactions. The Design Team provided architectural criteria document services, creating the criteria documents for the Design Build Entity to use in completing the design work and construction of this project.
