Metro Goldline - Arcadia Civic & Transit Plaza

Arcadia, California

The Arcadia Civic & Transit Plaza provides a welcoming and attractive space for transit riders and a civic community gathering space for the city. It provides an outdoor stage for entertainment opportunities, seating, unique clock tower, information kiosk, decorative hardscape, landscaped planting areas, and special lighting. The stormwater planting areas feature boulders, rock, and planting in naturalistic compositions throughout the plaza. This Design-Build project for the City of Arcadia and the Metro Gold Line is part of a 6-station light rail extension intermodal parking facilities and enhancements for the cities of Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and Azusa (Azuza-Alameda and Azuza-Citrus stations).

MMP provided full landscape architectural services, including design, irrigation, and planting for the surface parking area. The Arcadia Transit Plaza included a design development process and presentation of design alternatives, team concept design workshops with the city, and city approvals process. MMP provided design for amenities including bike lockers and bike racks, benches, sidewalks, enhanced crosswalks, planting, hardscape, trees and tree wells, pedestrian streetlights, bus pads, irrigation, and stormwater bioswale facility for parking structure runoff.
